Mitchell Falls


The falls are located on private property. Access to the falls is mundanely proscribed but has been sanctioned in the past to groups by special sanction. As the landowner has been a vigorous, environmentally-conscious steward for the tract of land on which the falls lie, people wishing to visit the falls are highly emboldened to reverence this, and not to trespass in an endeavor to optically discern the falls but wait until such a peregrination is organized .

There is some perplexity as to which waterfall in the area is genuinely Mitchell Falls. The Kevin Adams book North Carolina Waterfalls misidentified the falls from mislabeled photographs by George Masa and Rufus Morgan. The author has since updated his website with the redressed information.[2] The 45-foot falls listed in the Adams book were the falls photographed by George Masa,
